Version 1.0 · Last updated: 23 October 2026
This agreement is between you, a rider who delivers through the Spree Rider app ("you"), and Spreetech Limited (RC 9939578), 29 Park Road, Ebute Metta, Lagos State, Nigeria ("Spree", "we", "us").
It applies together with the terms of use and the privacy policy.
Please read sections 2 (you are independent), 6 (pay), 8 (parcels in your care) and 13 (liability) carefully.
1. Who can ride
1.1 To ride with Spree you must, and must keep, all of the following:
- be at least 18;
- a valid driver's licence for a motorcycle;
- a roadworthy motorcycle with valid papers and plate number, which you own or are lawfully allowed to use;
- valid motor insurance, at least the third-party cover the law requires;
- the rider permit or card Lagos State requires;
- a smartphone that can run the Spree Rider app with location turned on;
- a good helmet, and a closed delivery box fixed to the motorcycle;
- a guarantor who agrees to vouch for you (section 9).
1.2 You give us these documents in the app, with expiry dates, and we check your identity with our identity provider. You also complete an onboarding day with Spree before your first job. A person at Spree approves or declines every rider and tells you the reason.
1.3 When a document expires you stop receiving jobs until you upload a valid one. Tell us at once if your licence is suspended, your insurance ends or your motorcycle is no longer roadworthy.
2. You are independent
2.1 You are an independent contractor, not Spree's employee, partner or agent. This agreement is a contract for services.
2.2 You decide when you work. You go on duty and off duty when you choose. There is no minimum number of hours or jobs.
2.3 You choose your jobs. You can pass any offer, and passing costs you nothing. Your acceptance rate is shown to you, but it is never used to give you fewer offers.
2.4 You may deliver for other companies, including when you are off duty for Spree. While you carry a Spree parcel, you must not carry goods or passengers for anyone else.
2.5 You provide and pay for your own motorcycle, fuel, maintenance, phone, data, licences and insurance, unless Spree agrees in writing to supply something (such as a delivery box), which you return when you stop riding.
2.6 You are responsible for your own tax on what you earn. If the law requires Spree to withhold or report tax on your pay, we will do so and show it in your earnings.
3. Going on duty and your location
3.1 While you are on duty, the app sends your location to Spree, including when the screen is locked or the app is in the background. Your phone shows a notification the whole time. Going off duty stops it. We use your location to offer you jobs, show the buyer and shop where their parcel is, calculate pay and keep parcels safe (privacy policy, section 2.4).
3.2 If your phone stops sending its location while you are on duty, we warn you after 5 minutes and take you off duty after 15 minutes (never while you carry a parcel). Follow the app's setup steps for your phone so this does not happen.
4. Jobs
4.1 An offer shows the pickup, the drop and the pay before you accept. You have 22 seconds to accept it.
4.2 Once you accept, go to the shop without delay. If you go silent for 10 minutes before pickup, the job is given to another rider. You can hand a job back before pickup if you cannot do it.
4.3 Your tier decides the value of goods you may carry: New up to ₦30,000, Trusted up to ₦80,000, Senior with no limit. Tiers are reviewed each night from your completed deliveries, ratings, incidents and guarantor (privacy policy, section 9). You can ask for a person to review your tier.
5. Handover codes
5.1 Pickup: the shop reads you a four-digit pickup code. Enter it in the app only when you have the right parcel in your hands. Entering it moves responsibility for the parcel to you.
5.2 Delivery: at the address, ask the buyer (or the person they named) for their four-digit delivery code and enter it before you hand over the parcel. No code, no handover.
5.3 Returns: when a parcel goes back to a shop, the shop reads you a return code; when you collect a return from a buyer, the buyer reads you a collection code. Enter the code before you hand over or take the parcel.
5.4 Never ask for a code by phone or message, never enter a code someone else tells you to, never guess codes, and never hand over a parcel without the right code. The app blocks codes after repeated wrong tries.
6. Your pay
6.1 Per delivery: ₦900 per completed drop plus ₦120 per kilometre of road distance from the shop to the delivery address, rounded to the whole naira. The distance is the road distance Spree calculated when the order was placed, shown in the offer. Your travel to the shop is not paid separately.
6.2 If a delivery fails (nobody at the address within the 10-minute wait, or the parcel is turned down at the door), you are paid the distance out and back at ₦120 per kilometre. The ₦900 drop fee is not paid, and this shows as its own line in your earnings.
6.3 Return collections are offered and paid as jobs in the same way. If the buyer is not there when you come to collect a return, you are paid ₦900 for the attempt.
6.4 Nothing is taken from your pay as commission. The buyer's delivery fee is Spree's, and your pay does not depend on it.
6.5 Payouts are daily. Every evening at about 9pm Lagos time, everything you earned and have not been paid is transferred to your bank account, if it is at least ₦100. Spree pays the bank transfer fees.
6.6 Every line of your pay, and any deduction allowed by section 8.4, is shown separately in the app, with the order reference. If you think a figure is wrong, tell us within 60 days.
6.7 We may change the pay rate with at least 7 days' notice in the app. A change never applies to a job you have already accepted.
7. Safety and the law
You must, whenever you ride with a Spree parcel:
- obey road traffic law, Lagos State traffic and transport law, and the lawful directions of the police and traffic officers;
- not ride on any road, highway or area where your motorcycle is not permitted under Lagos State law, including restrictions on motorcycles below a minimum engine size;
- wear your helmet, and carry parcels only in your closed delivery box;
- never carry a passenger;
- never use your phone in your hand while the motorcycle is moving;
- never ride after drinking alcohol or taking drugs;
- never ride in a way that puts you or others in danger, even to be on time.
If you have an accident or a parcel is stolen, make yourself safe first, then report it in the app or by calling Spree as soon as you can, and to the police where the law requires.
8. Parcels in your care
8.1 From the moment you enter the pickup code until the parcel is delivered or returned to the shop with the right code, you must take reasonable care of it: keep it closed, in your box, dry and out of sight, and never open it.
8.2 If a parcel is turned down at the door, follow the app: take the photo it asks for and take the parcel back to the shop. If the shop is closed, keep the parcel safely overnight and return it at the shop's next opening.
8.3 Spree carries the cost of parcels lost or damaged in transit by accident. An incident on your delivery may move you back to the New tier.
8.4 You must repay a loss you cause dishonestly or recklessly. If a parcel is lost, damaged, stolen or kept because of your theft, fraud, deliberate act or gross negligence, you must repay Spree the value of the goods and any fees Spree had to refund. Before we recover anything, a person at Spree will tell you the facts and the amount in writing, give you at least 7 days to respond with your side, and decide. If we decide you must pay, you agree we may recover it from your future earnings in instalments that leave you at least half of each payout, or from your guarantor (section 9), and that we may report a crime to the police.
9. Your guarantor
9.1 Your guarantor is someone who knows you and agrees to vouch for you. You must ask them before you give us their details. We will call them to confirm.
9.2 If you or your guarantor want them to guarantee the value of parcels in your care, they sign Spree's separate guarantor form. A guarantor who has not signed that form is a reference, not a guarantor of money.
10. Customers and their data
10.1 You see buyers' and shops' names, phone numbers and addresses only to complete the job. You must not save them, contact anyone after the job, share them, or use them for anything else.
10.2 Be polite and professional with buyers, shops and Spree staff. Never harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone. Do not ask buyers or shops for tips, extra money or a rating.
10.3 Ratings you give buyers and shops must be honest.
11. Suspending or ending this agreement
11.1 You may stop riding at any time. Finish or hand back any job you have accepted, and return any parcel in your care. Money you are owed is paid in the normal way.
11.2 We may suspend you, or end this agreement, if you break it or the law, if a document expires, if there are repeated genuine complaints, or if we suspect fraud. Except where there is an urgent safety risk or the law prevents it, we will tell you the reason first and give you a chance to respond. You can ask for a review through Help, and a person will decide.
11.3 We may also end this agreement for any reason with 14 days' notice.
11.4 Sections 2.6, 6.6, 8.4, 10, 13 and 14 continue after this agreement ends.
12. You protect Spree
You will cover Spree for any claim, fine or reasonable legal cost caused by your breach of traffic law, your dishonesty or gross negligence, or your breach of this agreement.
13. Spree's responsibility to you
Please read this section.
13.1 We will pay you what your earnings show you are owed, on time, and treat you fairly.
13.2 Spree does not insure you, your motorcycle or your phone. You are responsible for your own insurance and for injury, loss or damage while you ride, except where it is caused by Spree's negligence.
13.3 We do not promise any number of jobs or any level of earnings.
13.4 We are not responsible for loss of profit or earnings, or for losses we could not reasonably have foreseen. Apart from paying what you are owed, our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to the pay you earned through Spree in those 12 months.
13.5 Nothing in this agreement limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or gross negligence, or for anything the law does not allow to be limited.
14. Disputes
14.1 Tell us first through Help. We will try to settle it with you within 14 days.
14.2 If we cannot, either of us may refer it to mediation at the Lagos Multi-Door Courthouse.
14.3 If mediation does not settle it within 30 days, the dispute will be finally decided by arbitration under the Arbitration and Mediation Act 2023, by a single arbitrator agreed by us both (or, failing agreement, appointed by the Lagos Court of Arbitration), seated in Lagos, in English.
14.4 Either of us may still go to court for urgent relief, and a claim small enough for the Lagos State small claims court may be taken there instead.
14.5 This agreement is governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
15. Changes and general terms
15.1 We may change this agreement with at least 7 days' notice in the app, unless the law requires a change sooner. You will be asked to accept the new version before you next go on duty. If you do not accept it, you may stop riding.
15.2 This agreement, with the terms of use and the privacy policy, is the whole agreement between you and Spree about riding.
15.3 If any part is found invalid, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
15.4 You may not transfer this agreement. We may transfer it to a company that takes over Spree, and we will tell you.
15.5 You accept this agreement electronically, and the record of your acceptance (version and time) is evidence of it.
